Sometimes people ask me why I do so much. The CommonAction Board of Directors include these people – and rightly so, because that’s there job. This weekend was a “so much” weekend that featured a 45-minute drive into the remote backcountry outside of Yelm, Washington. There I facilitated a 45-minuted workshop for youth on how to work with adults, instead of against them. Powerful stuff there, especially since the campaign they are struggling in is led by the American Cancer Society. One of the things I learned from this group is about the need for me to stay connected to the young people I want to reach. That requires intensive contact, and probably answers the question of why. “That’s why,” I answer – because young people and everything they represent are what matters the most.
